IMG_7322-1.jpg Jessica (“Jess”) Capelle writes stories for all age levels that are generally of the adventure, mystery, or thriller variety and often of the fantasy, science fiction, or horror variety.  She’s even been a ghostwriter for writers who don’t write about ghosts (sadly). If you’re into spooky books for kids, she also writes as Jessa Dean.

Jess holds a BA in French and a JD. In addition to practicing law, she can often be found freelance writing, editing both fiction and non-fiction, and teaching. She is on the Board of the Houston Sisters in Crime chapter, a co-founder and moderator of an online group for middle grade writers, and a member of SCBWI and Codex Writers. She also served as co-founder and coordinator of the former Houston YA/MG Writers Group.

Jess lives in the Houston area with feline overlords who like to “help” with her work, so you’ll often find her typing away in local coffee shops. Her muse, Lucinda, is generally absent.

Jess is represented by Jennifer Udden at New Leaf Literary.
